For individuals who are able to multitask are willing to work long hours who take initiative and enjoy meeting and remembering new people as well as communicating and networking and are game for working in a field that is competitive but also exciting and interesting a career as a casting agent could be ideal.

According to casting agents who are sometimes called casting directors gather actors together who will try out for specific parts in theater film television or advertising productions. The casting agent meets with a producer and often a writer to get a sense of what type of actor they want to have playing a particular role.

Casting agents should have a passion for acting and actors but they must also understand that they will be working behind the scenes. To prepare for this career individuals need to take one or more acting classes attend numerous theater productions and movies and watch movies television shows and advertisements to get a sense which actors are best suited for the parts they play. An eye for talent is important but casting directors must be patient because it can be time-consuming to find the right actor for a role.

Aspiring casting agents must be familiar with and memorize all the actors and actresses that are available. Many start out as unpaid interns or as paid production assistants where they hope to be supervised by people who will teach them what they need to know.

Annual salaries for casting agents vary widely but range from approximately $29000 to $60000.
